The Colonial Group is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Marine/Watercraft Underwriter to join our team. This can be a work from home opportunity for the right candidate.

The primary responsibility is to review applications, inspections, and loss history for new and renewal business to make informed decisions. The goal is to provide the best options for risk placement to our agency partners and policyholders while maintaining an acceptable loss ratio with our carriers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Review applications for accuracy and ensure the risk meets the carrier’s underwriting guidelines.
  • Order inspections, valuations, credit, and CLUE reports from third-party vendors.
  • Evaluate inspections and reports to determine if the risk aligns with underwriting standards.
  • Analyze loss history to decide on risk retention or mitigation strategies.
  • Process all monetary policy change requests.
  • Handle 15-25 underwriting calls per day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Required: Prior Marine/Watercraft underwriting experience, high school diploma, at least one year of experience in the insurance industry, proficiency in MS Office Suite, and licensing if handling specific NC accounts.
  • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related financial discipline.
