Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking an Underwriting Associate – Marine to support underwriting activities, manage renewal processes, and assist with new accounts from submission to contract expiration. You’ll work under underwriting guidance but handle endorsements within your delegated authority.

You will engage with brokers and clients, review files for accuracy, and collaborate with claims teammates while expanding knowledge of IDT and Duck Creek systems.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years prior experience within the insurance industry.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to operate within a network environment.
• Ability to lead and mentor.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong demonstration of initiative, interpersonal skills, and a professional demeanor.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to change while guiding others.

Responsibilities

• Gather underwriting information and complete renewal quotes and binder documents.
• Accept new/renewal risks within authorized limits and with applicable restrictions.
• Complete rating, experience mods and policy issuance for automatic renewals.
• Prepare quote renewals and perform underwriting review as needed.
• Review renewal files for accuracy and draft pricing recommendations.
• Collaborate with claims adjusters for information on specific claims.
• Serve as a knowledge resource on IDT and Duck Creek processes.
• Mentor colleagues and participate in knowledge-sharing activities.
