Job summary

The Jankovich Company in San Pedro, California, is seeking a Tankerman to safely transfer petroleum products between barges, vessels, and shore facilities. You will report to the Master of Tow and ensure cargo handling complies with U.S.

Coast Guard regulations, safety, and environmental standards. This full-time role includes operating and inspecting transfer equipment, maintaining cargo documentation, gauging tanks, and coordinating with vessel crews and shore staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely transfer petroleum cargo between barges, vessels and shore facilities.
• Knowledge of Coast Guard regulations and SMS requirements.
• Experience with petroleum cargo transfers aboard marine vessels.
• Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Safely transfer petroleum products between barges, vessels, and shore-side facilities in accordance with regulations.
• Plan and execute cargo transfers ensuring vessel stability and regulatory compliance.
• Inspect and operate cargo pumps, hoses, fittings, and transfer equipment.
• Gauge tanks, perform cargo calculations, and verify transfer quantities.
• Maintain cargo transfer records and regulatory documentation.
• Monitor operations to prevent spills and ensure environmental protection.
• Coordinate with vessel crews, terminal personnel, and shore-side management.
