Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Marine Structural Engineer-in-Training in New York, NY. This position targets Spring 2027 graduates, with the role starting Summer 2027.

You will engage in waterfront design projects, gaining hands-on experience in structural design, site investigations, and construction-phase services. Responsibilities include investigations, design development, specifications, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of engineering experience.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Familiar with MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Prior internships or engineering experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License; EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs workload involving design investigations of waterfront structures.
• Assist in design development, specifications, and reports for waterfront projects.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary projects.
• Supervise and guide engineers and assistants on assignments.
• Review inputs from managers and adjust work as needed.
• Contribute to construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel structures.
• Experience across design phases and construction administration is preferred.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Marine Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our team in New York, NY. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2027. On the Marine/Coastal team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on the investigation, design, and development of waterfront and marine structures. You’ll contribute to multidisciplinary projects while gaining hands‑on experience with structural design, field investigations, project documentation, and construction-phase services.

Responsibilities include:

• Performs work that involves investigations, surveys, and the design of waterfront structures.
• Assignments include but are not limited to design and development, preparation of specifications, waterfront investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in a specific, narrow area of assignments.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects.
• Coordinates the work of Engineers and others who may assist on specific assignments, as required.
• Reviews input from Project or Technical Managers and makes the necessary adjustments and corrections to work product.
• Performs work in a timely and effective manner within assigned schedules and budgets.
• Multi‑tasker with ability to perform structural design and development of construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel structures.
• Experience in all phases of design as well as provided construction administration/bid phase services is preferred
• Field experience and ability to collaborate with clients, contractors, and other disciplines is preferred, but not required
• EIT is preferred. Ability to get in 1 year is required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

• 0-2 Years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
• General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education And/or Work Experience Preferred

• Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

• Valid Driver’s License
