This role is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, launching a hands-on experience in investigations, design, and waterfront projects. You will collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, develop construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel, and gain exposure to field investigations and construction-phase services.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in marine structural engineering or related field.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigations, surveys, and the design of waterfront structures.
• Prepare specifications and contribute to waterfront investigations and reports.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary projects.
• Coordinate work of Engineers and assistants as required.
• Review inputs from Project or Technical Managers and adjust work products.
• Deliver work within assigned schedules and budgets.
• Develop construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel structures.
• Support field work and construction administration/bid activities where applicable.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Marine Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our team in New York, NY. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2027. On the Marine/Coastal team, you'll have the opportunity to work on the investigation, design, and development of waterfront and marine structures. You'll contribute to multidisciplinary projects while gaining hands‑on experience with structural design, field investigations, project documentation, and construction‑phase services. Responsibilities include:

• Performs work that involves investigations, surveys, and the design of waterfront structures.
• Assignments include but are not limited to design and development, preparation of specifications, waterfront investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in a specific, narrow area of assignments.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects.
• Coordinates the work of Engineers and others who may assist on specific assignments, as required.
• Reviews input from Project or Technical Managers and makes the necessary adjustments and corrections to work product.
• Performs work in a timely and effective manner within assigned schedules and budgets.
• Multi-tasker with ability to perform structural design and development of construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel structures.
• Experience in all phases of design as well as provided construction administration/bid phase services is preferred
• Field experience and ability to collaborate with clients, contractors, and other disciplines is preferred, but not required
• EIT is preferred. Ability to get in 1 year is required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

• 0-2 Years of experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
• General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

• Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
