Job summary

Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. is seeking a Marine Services Technician for our Seattle, WA team. This full-time role involves safe, efficient deckhand duties with a rotating schedule and a focus on environmental compliance.

You will moor and deploy lines, assist with towing and boom operations, perform routine maintenance, and uphold safety standards in coordination with the Vessel Operator and USCG requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Must pass DOT physical and hold a valid driver's license with insurance.
  • 1+ year maritime experience preferred.
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • HAZWOP ER (24 or 40-hour) preferred; First Aid/CPR preferred; Boater Education Card preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work variable hours.

Responsibilities

  • Mooring, anchoring, and line-handling in all weather conditions.
  • Assist towing, deployment, and stowage of oil containment boom.
  • Control lines to moor and rig towing lines between vessels.
  • Splice and repair cables and ropes using hand tools.
  • Boom and Fender maintenance; perform vessel maintenance and cleaning.
  • Carry out lookout duties and monitor traffic and safety conditions onboard.
  • Maintain communication with the Vessel Operator and follow safety guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with USCG and company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Drive company vehicles as needed; participate in safety meetings and drills.

Position Overview

Global is currently seeking a versatile and motivated Marine Services Technician to join our team located in Seattle, WA. This person will be responsible for safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant deckhand duties. This is a full-time, entry-level position with a rotating schedule.

Position Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, and line-handling in all weather conditions.
  • Assist with the towing, deploying, and stowing of the oil containment boom
  • Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines.
  • Splice and repair cables and ropes using hand tools
  • Boom and Fender maintenance
  • Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potentially unsafe conditions onboard, and other such duties.
  • Keep the vessel and equipment maintained by performing various maintenance and cleaning duties.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Vessel Operator.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.
  • Carry out and complete assigned tasks within the legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & Global’s policy.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Ensure full understanding of the duties of every job you are working on.
  • Drive company vehicles as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical
  • Carry a valid Driver's License and valid car insurance
Experience
  • 1+ years of Maritime experience(preferred)
Required Certifications & Credentials
  • TWIC CARD (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
  • 24 or 40-hour HAZWOPER (preferred)
  • First Aid/AED/CPR Card (preferred)
  • Washington State Boater Education Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 50lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift
  • Ability to work any day of the week, both night and day
  • Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive band use
  • 24/7 day-a-week availability
  • Ability to work any day of the week, both night and day
  • Ability to travel to project sites
  • Ability to meet DOT, USCG & HAZMAT physical requirements
Schedule
  • Must be available to work 40 to 50 hours per workweek.
  • Must be available on a variable basis.
  • Employees must be available for a large percentage of available work and attentive to communications for job scheduling changes.
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate for candidates in Seattle, WA: $21.30 - $26
