Job summary

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Marine Science AquaticCare Student Worker to assist in caring for aquatic and other laboratory animals, including invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and rodents.

You will follow SOPs, complete required training, and help maintain clean facilities in accordance with USDA guidelines. You’ll work with the IACUC team and a supportive campus staff to ensure animals receive proper care and nutrition.

Qualifications

• Must be an ESU student in good standing.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for animal care.
• Ability to complete required training modules.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize with approved SOPs related to animal care.
• Complete web-based training modules on proper care and housing of laboratory animals.
• Assist in carrying out daily check-ins of animal care facilities.
• Keep facilities clean and in accordance with USDA guidelines.
• Learn operation of cage washer.
• Work as part of a team to ensure animal health and proper nutrition.
• Keep animal care records up to date and report health of animals.

Marine Science AquaticCare Student Worker

Job Summary: To work together with other students and professors to administer the best possible care to the animals housed at East Stroudsburg University. These animals include invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and rodents.

Key Responsibilities

• Become familiar with approved Standard Operating Procedures related to animal care.


• Complete web-based training modules on the proper care and housing of laboratory animals provided through the American Association of Laboratory Animal Sciences.


• Assist in carrying out daily check-ins of animal care facilities.


• Keep facilities clean and in accordance with USDA guidelines.


• Learn how to operate cage washer.


• Work together as a part of a team to ensure optimal health of animals under your care by providing a clean environment and optimal nutrition for those animals.


• Keep records of animal care up to date and report on the health of the animals regularly.


• Work with the IACUC veterinarian to assure that any treatment protocols of sick or injured animals are carried out properly.

Qualifications

• Current ESU Student.

PayRate: $9.00 per hour

Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills.
