Job summary

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to join the National Deep Submergence Facility (NDSF). This regular, full-time position supports underwater vehicles and oceanographic systems and will develop software to operate robotic vehicles and turn data into reliable scientific products.

The engineer will work with engineers, technicians, scientists, and collaborators in the laboratory and at sea.

Qualifications

  • Master's in robotics, CS, EE, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing in C++ or Python.
  • Experience with ROS 1 and/or ROS 2 and Linux.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test software for underwater robotic vehicles.
  • Integrate sensors, navigation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Develop, test, and maintain ROS-based software and field-ready pipelines.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, scientists, and ship crews.
