THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking a mid-level Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion) to support the USCG Ship Design Team in Baltimore, MD. The role emphasizes propulsion system design, ship machinery, and trade studies, with opportunities to develop documentation and participate in ship configurations.

Candidates should have 3–5 years in marine mechanical fields, ABET-accredited degree, and familiarity with ABS/NVR standards; U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical fields, including propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and trade studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and documentation for marine vessels, propulsion systems, and related equipment.
• Develop ship propulsion systems including diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise and vibration.
• Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
• Conduct analyses of propulsion systems and lead development of technical data packages and reviews.
• Perform trade studies regarding ship configuration.
