Job summary

Freeman Boatworks seeks a hands-on Process Engineer to improve manufacturing processes, production efficiency, quality, consistency, and production readiness across our boat-building operations.

This role collaborates with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Inventory, and other teams to identify opportunities for improvement, solve manufacturing challenges, and implement practical solutions on the production floor.

Qualifications

• Hands-on manufacturing environment experience preferred.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Ability to analyze processes and identify root causes.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with production teams to understand processes and opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze processes and implement improvements using lean and CI principles.
• Collect and analyze production data, cycle times, labor needs, and quality issues.
• Lead or support root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
• Improve workflow, reduce waste, and optimize production flow.
• Evaluate methods, equipment, tooling, materials, layouts, and processes.
• Partner with Engineering and Production to introduce new products and processes.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, Build Books, photos, diagrams.
• Evaluate materials, equipment, and tooling for quality, cost, and manufacturability.
• Support process improvements involving mechanical/electrical systems as needed.
• Conduct feasibility studies and testing for improvements.
• Support training and implementation of new processes.
• Participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
