Job summary

Brunswick is seeking a Parts Inspector/Finish Repair Tech in Vonore, TN to construct and repair fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts with attention to quality finishes. You will use gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, and drills, inspect finishes, and manage solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax while following precise job instructions.

Tech II requires advanced skills and a pass of an internal skills test, including gel coat chemistry, repair methods, and defect correction,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2-3 years of boat building experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of hand tools.
• Ability to read and understand prints and production schedules.
• Ability to work with suspended loads and heavy lifting, up to 50lbs.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements in a positive and proactive way.
• Excellent attention to detail for identifying defects and inconsistencies in parts and components.

Responsibilities

• Tech I: Build and repair fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using hand tools and specialty tools like gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, and drills.
• Inspect parts and understand fiberglass finishes or basic use of abrasives.
• Handle solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax, with proper disposal.
• Follow specific job instructions and provide verbal and/or written status of part completion.
• Recognize and protect boat components while performing finishing duties.
• Tech II: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Tech I duties and pass internal skills test including gel-to-catalyst mixing and defect repair methods.
