Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Marine Painter to prepare wood, metal, and fiberglass surfaces, and to paint ship components and company equipment under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 1–3 years of marine painting experience; equivalent combination considered.
• Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, OSHA regulations, and hazardous material handling.
• Experience with marine coating applications and surface preparation.
• Proficiency with spray guns, brushes, rollers, and sandblasting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Regular attendance and ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Comply with safety, ethics, and environmental rules and company policies.
• Prepare work site and transport paint, tools, and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces and mix solvents per formula.
• Remove grease, dirt, paint, and rust from surfaces using abrasives, solvents, or brushes.
• Protect surfaces not to be painted using masking tape or other materials.
• Operate painting and/or sandblasting equipment to apply coatings and make touch-ups.
• Paint areas inaccessible to spray gun with brush or roller.
• Mix and match colors of paint.
• Maintain a clean work area and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
