Job summary

Shoreside Petroleum Inc. is seeking a Marine Operations Manager to lead the Seward terminal operations, coordinating cruise ship fueling and barge offloads with vessel staff and the Terminal Manager for safe, efficient transfers.

Overseeing the Marina and T Dock fueling, this role hires and trains the seasonal team, ensuring safety training and staffing levels meet service needs while supporting general plant operations with the Terminal Manager and Operations team.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; Alaska Driver's License.
• DOT Medical Card and TWIC required.
• Must be able to work directly with petroleum products.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers and vendors.

Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Main point of contact in Seward for scheduling and planning cruise ship fuelings and barge offloads. Coordinates and communicates with vessel staff and Terminal Manger to ensure that the needed operational resources and personnel are in place for safe, efficient, and timely product transfers.

Provides oversight of the Marina and T Dock fueling operation. Responsible for hiring and training the seasonal Marina Manager position. Works with Marina Manager to ensure sufficient staffing is hired to meet facility service requirements. Works with the Marina Manager to make sure Marina employees have the necessary training for safety and customer service standards. Works with the Terminal Manager to ensure sufficient personnel are scheduled to meet customer fueling needs at the T Dock.

Oversee general housekeeping and maintenance to provide safe and efficient operations for customers and employees. Keeps all equipment in good working order. Adhere to company and regulatory safety policies and communicate them to employees and customers.

Assist with general plant operations on an as needed and available basis under the direction of the Terminal Manager. Assist Operations team with training drivers and new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Alaska Driver's License. Must be able to work directly with petroleum products. DOT Medical Card and TWIC also required, or ability to immediately acquire these documents.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulatory and compliance documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, or service providers. Ability to write and effectively communicate utilizing e-mail. Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers, and vendors to facilitate problem resolutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and seventy-five pounds occasionally, and push/pull a maximum of 350lbs (with assistance of pallet jack). Operate hand truck with heavy inventory loaded, most typically package lube products such as a pallet of 4-8, 5-gallon containers or one 55-gallon drum of lube oil product. Operate a forklift. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and participate in moderately active physical duties. Must be able to operate company vehicles. Must be able to use computer, telephone, and other general office equipment. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to move product. Proper lifting techniques required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The performance of this position requires exposure to industrial areas and marine locations which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as appropriate footwear, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Industrial areas include hazardous chemicals, fumes, and petroleum by-products. For the most part, exposure is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
