Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design propulsion and auxiliary systems for vessels, including piping and HVAC. You will direct designers, prepare specs, interface with production, and ensure conformity to customer and engineering standards.

Shipyard experience is preferred; 2+ years with a Mechanical Engineering degree or 10+ years related experience may qualify. This role requires strong leadership, documentation skills, and familiarity with CFR, ABS, NVIC

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10+ years of related experience.
Shipyard experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Actively interfaces with other engineering disciplines and production departments.
Prepares purchase technical specifications.
Directs designers in the development of functional drawings.
Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems for use onboard vessels.
Researches and analyzes data to determine feasibility of design or application.
Guides personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and development of testing methods and procedures.
Ensures products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
May design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
