Summary

We are seeking a Marine Technician for the SECAP program who will assist ship's force personnel with conducting maintenance onboard U.S. Naval Vessels. This technician also conducts troubleshooting and repairs on HM&E systems, specifically valve and pump maintenance for installed systems: Main Drainage, Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF), Counter Measure Washdown (CMWD), and Fire-main systems. This is a full-time, hourly position located in San Diego, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Assess, Train, and assist in the repair of shipboard hydraulics, pumps and valves on DC and engineering systems, with shipboard personnel.
  • Utilizes an "On Hands" approach/ technique specific to the Sailors individual strengths to benefit the Sailor as well as the command.
  • Assisted Ships force in the identification of proper materials and manuals necessary to make repairs to shipboard systems.
  • May provide direction and lead others.
  • May manage one or more multiple jobs.

What You Must Have

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must have Mechanical experience troubleshooting and repairing U.S. Navy Ships.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS (Base Access) and a DoD Security Clearance.

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • A current, valid DoD Security Clearance.
  • Prior US Navy experience as a Machinist Mate with Hydraulic experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
