Job summary

North Wind Group is seeking a Marine Mammals Systems Assistant I to support 24/7 operations, collaborating with veterinary and biotech staff in delivering specialized care to marine mammals. The role involves vitamins/medication delivery, diet preparation, and routine procedures tailored to each animal's health needs.

Ideal candidates have a marine biology background or relevant animal training, scuba certification, and the ability to travel internationally on short notice.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Marine Biology or related field and basic open water scuba certification with 1 year experience.
• OR 1 year animal training plus basic scuba certification and high school diploma (or equivalent).
• OR Maritime/navigational experience with USCG license or Navy Coxswain certification and scuba certification with 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor animal behaviors and wellness and report to onsite personnel.
• Perform body inspections and assess wellbeing during sessions.
• Engage animals during sessions and rehearse behaviors in open water.
• Record session data and animal performance.
• Assist with feedings and administration of supplements.
• Support basic animal husbandry and diving operations.
• Prepare and maintain rations for each animal.
• Operate watercraft as needed.
• Potential to train as a secondary handler for specific animals.
