Job summary
North Wind Group in Silverdale, WA, seeks a Marine Mammal System Assistant I to support 24/7 operations alongside veterinary and biotech teams. You will assist with vitamins/medication delivery, diet administration, and routine medical procedures, delivering customized care per animal needs.
Responsibilities include monitoring behavior, conducting sessions, recording data, and assisting with husbandry and diving support. Travel and on-site duties may be required with safety as a priority.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology or related field with basic open water scuba certification and 1 year experience.
- Or 1 year animal training with scuba certification and HS diploma with 1 year experience.
- Or maritime navigation experience with appropriate certification and scuba certification with 1 year experience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor animal behaviors and wellness and report to onsite personnel.
- Complete animal sessions including body inspections and wellbeing assessments.
- Engage animals during sessions in open water and record performance data.
- Perform feedings and administer food supplements.
- Assist with basic animal husbandry and diving support.
- Support fish house operations for individualized rations.
