Job summary

Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC is seeking a marine technician to inspect, maintain, repair boats, and test electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems using diagnostic tools. You will troubleshoot, install, and service vessel components, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently.

You must bring readiness to work overtime and possess your own tools. The role emphasizes knowledge of marine electrical, water, and HVAC systems, with ABYC or manufacturer certifications preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair boats' mechanical, electrical, HVAC and water systems.
  • Test and repair vessel systems using diagnostic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and install vessel components, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and water systems.
  • Assign parts and purchases to work orders; manage timeframes and budgets.

Description

Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds. Using diagnostic equipment, test, repair and/or install vessels' mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and water systems. Responsibilities and requirements may include but are not limited to the items listed below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • EPA certified installer of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating Systems contained on boats.
  • Install and test HVAC and refrigeration systems, Electrosea systems, and chilled water systems
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
  • Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, repairing the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
  • Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste)
  • Utilize NMEA 200 and other protocols on vessel operating systems
  • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate work orders
  • Must possess own tools
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Technical school training preferred
  • 2 years' experience preferred
  • ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • Must carry own tools
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Any skills considered standard that a Technician (Mechanic) should possess
