Job summary

Orion Marine Group is seeking a field-based Mechanic to maintain and repair marine equipment used in dredging and construction projects in the Tampa area. The role involves diesel and gasoline engine work, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.

The candidate should have at least two years of heavy equipment experience, be able to work with minimal supervision, maintain logs, and comply with safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience as an automobile or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Able to communicate well and have knowledge of heavy equipment trade.
• Knowledge of operation of marine equipment and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Disassemble, repair, and assemble diesel and gasoline engines.
• Overhauls and repairs on brake, electrical, fuel, lubrication, cooling, hydraulic systems and drive trains.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems with machinery and equipment.
• Maintain daily log of work and maintain work orders.
• Order materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance.
• Maintain maintenance records and plan next maintenance date.
• Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives.
