POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our team is currently looking for a Chief Engineer for a client in the Marine industry.

Remote | Must be willing to travel nationwide (Gulf Coast or East Coast residence preferred)

100% Travel Required | All travel, lodging, and meals covered while on rotation

About the Role

We’re partnering with a leading U.S. marine services company to find a Chief Engineer responsible for all propulsion and auxiliary machinery aboard a Cutter Suction Dredge. Working closely with the Captain, the Chief Engineer will lead the engine room crew, manage preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

This is a rotational, travel-intensive position supporting dredging projects nationwide. You’ll be part of a high-performing, safety-first team on some of the most complex marine infrastructure projects in the country

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all mechanical operations aboard the vessel, including propulsion and auxiliary systems
  • Ensure vessel compliance with ABS, USCG, and CFR regulations
  • Enforce company safety programs and promote a strong Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and equipment walkthroughs
  • Maintain engine logs, oil record books, and LOTO documentation
  • Oversee condition monitoring, preventive maintenance, and repairs
  • Manage inventory and procurement of critical spare parts
  • Coordinate with shipyards and internal teams for scheduled maintenance and drydock
  • Participate in weekly Vessel Reliability Assured Maintenance (RAM) meetings

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing marine vessel engine systems and maintenance programs
  • Strong leadership and team supervision abilities
  • Knowledge of marine regulatory compliance and vessel operations
  • Willing and able to work on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotational schedule with 100% travel
  • Competitive salary + up to 8% annual performance bonus
