Lead Waterfront/Marine Structural Engineer

Foth is seeking a Lead Waterfront/Marine Structural Engineer to serve as the technical lead and designer on a variety of waterfront and coastal engineering projects. This role involves supporting the planning, engineering, and construction of coastal shoreline protection, stabilization, and marine structures. The successful candidate will perform coastal conditions calculations, structural analysis, and develop construction documents, while also identifying and implementing the latest design technologies. This role can be located in Newport, RI; Marion, MA; Jacksonville, FL; or remote for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as technical lead/designer on variety of waterfront and coastal engineering related projects
  • Support planning, engineering, and construction of various coastal shoreline protection and stabilization, and marine/waterfront structures
  • Proactively identifies newest design and engineering execution technologies and drives to conclusion the implementation of such technologies
  • Perform coastal conditions calculations and structural analysis to develop/review design drawings for various types of marine infrastructure projects
  • Work with Project Managers to establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Develop construction documents including plans and specifications
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and proposed regulations related to marine infrastructure and coastal engineering
  • Work with Foth’s Technical Competency Leader to develop Foth's technical library for the coastal engineering discipline
  • Develop and continuously improve standard work practices for marine engineering
  • Support Client Team Leader efforts with new and existing clients to help develop business, create proposals, and cultivate client relationships
  • Prepare/review technical approaches and proposals for projects and/or coastal engineering tasks supporting large multi-disciplinary projects
  • Lead communication efforts with clients from proposal phase to project completion phase as the technical expert
  • Make formal and informal presentations to both technical and lay audiences
  • Build and facilitate teamwork among members across all disciplines and levels, with a focus on the coastal engineering competency
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and develop technical members
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in the areas of feasibility, design, and/or construction management
  • Experience with developing construction documents including plans and specifications
  • Professional Engineer License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years with an engineering consulting firm with an emphasis in coastal or environmental engineering or science
  • Previous experience with the following: Integrating complex engineering and environmental sciences on coastal projects, establishing working relationships with regulators, projects on the Great Lakes or in the Midwest
