Job summary

Northeast Maritime Institute Inc. is seeking a Marine Mechanic III based in Sitka, Alaska. The successful candidate will assist in the maintenance and repair of marine engines and equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and assist in inventory management for vessel parts.

Qualifications include proven analytical skills, the ability to pass a security background check, and a valid First Aid/CPR certification. Preferred qualifications include welding experience and direct knowledge of marine diesel engines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical overhaul and repair of marine engines.
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves.
  • Operate hand and power tools for engine repair.
  • Maintain inventory parts for engines and auxiliary systems.
  • Assist with oil/fuel filter changes and vessel maintenance.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct checks of engine and jet room spaces aboard vessels.
  • Function as a deckhand/engineer as needed.
  • Keep facility organized and neat.
  • Complete special projects as required.
