Job summary

Ilmor Marine in New Hudson, MI is seeking a Marine Engine Assembler to join our brand-new Marine Engine Technical Center. You will assemble a variety of engines with attention to quality, safety and efficiency, and work on an active assembly line.

The role is fast-paced and requires hands-on mechanical skills, use of power tools and inspection of assemblies. Day Shift with 4-10s and competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical & fabrication skills to support builds, setups, repairs and maintenance.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office.
  • Team player with ability to mobilize support when necessary.
  • Ability to organize and plan multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Follow quality procedures and diagrams.
  • Use machines, air tools, hoists and special processes.
  • Assemble engine and electrical parts by hand or with tools.
  • Handle and move materials, parts, and assemblies.
  • Perform assembly in pre-paint and post-paint sections and staging.
  • Inspect engines and materials for defects.
  • Install engines onto and monitor on hot test stands.

Marine Engine Assemblers assemble many types of recreational marine boat engines with focus on quality, safety and efficiency. This is a fast-paced, on-your-feet position and is ideal for candidates who are mechanically inclined and quality-focused.

Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • Must be able to follow instructions carefully, including quality procedures, which may require some basic reading skills and the ability to follow diagrams and pictures
  • Must be adept at using machines, air tools, hoists and special processes
  • Perform the same task repeatedly
  • Assemble engine and electrical parts with bolts, clips, screws, solder, cement, or other fasteners by hand or by using portable power tools
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Must be able to conduct assembly in the pre-paint and post-paint sections of the assembly line, as well as staging for pre-assembly, painting, post-paint and shipping.
  • Inspecting fully assembled and/or partially assembled engines, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Install engines onto, and monitor engine functions on, hot test stands
Required Qualifications

  • Day Shift, "4-10s" Monday thru Thursday, 6:30am - 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch and two paid breaks.
  • Compensation: Pay rates start at $20/hour based on experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
