Summary

At Ilmor, cylinder heads for racing engines are not simply components; they are among the most critical and performance‑defining systems in every engine we build. We are seeking a highly experienced Cylinder Head Technician who brings deep hands‑on expertise in cylinder head inspection, machining, preparation, assembly, and testing.

This is not an entry-level assembly position. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience working with high-performance engine cylinder heads, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and have the ability to independently evaluate component condition, quality, and serviceability.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of internal combustion engines, precision measurement techniques, machining operations, and quality standards associated with professional motorsports and high-performance engine applications.

The Cylinder Head Technician will be responsible for the complete inspection, preparation, assembly, testing, and documentation of cylinder head components while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, accuracy, and reliability expected at Ilmor.

Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • Disassembly, cleaning, quality checking, and crack testing using nondestructive methods
  • Make quality decisions based on known life/usage and condition of the parts
  • Measuring, preparing, re‑assembling and testing of various components to a defined standard and specification
  • Follow engine and component record keeping procedures
  • Inspection of cylinder heads and components, and verification they are to the appropriate standard
  • Machining of components and assembly to desired standards
  • Must have full knowledge of measuring equipment and be very detail and service oriented
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience working with Cylinder Heads.
  • Strong understanding of Internal Combustion Engines
  • Passion for motorsports and racing
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organization skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent, Technical Degree (e.g. Associate's or Certification Program) strongly preferred
Knowledge
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
