Job summary

Ilmor Marine is hiring Marine Engine Assemblers for our new Marine Engine Technical Center in New Hudson, MI. This fast-paced, on-your-feet role focuses on quality, safety and precision while building and wiring engines, following diagrams and procedures.

Shift is Day, 4-10s (6:30am–5pm) with paid holidays, Day 1 benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision), a 401(k) option, tools and uniforms provided, and PTO. Start rate is $20/hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical and fabrication skills to support builds and maintenance.
  • Team player with ability to mobilize support when necessary.
  • Ability to organize and plan multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble engine and electrical parts with bolts, clips, screws, or other fasteners by hand or with portable power tools.
  • Follow quality procedures and diagrams while assembling engines.
  • Inspect assembled or partial engines for defects and monitor engine functions on test stands.
  • Prepare engines for pre-paint, painting, post-paint, and shipping stages.

Marine Engine Assemblers assemble many types of recreational marine boat engines with focus on quality, safety and efficiency. This is a fast-paced, on-your-feet position and is ideal for candidates who are mechanically inclined and quality-focused.

  • Must be able to follow instructions carefully, including quality procedures, which may requiresome basic reading skills and the ability to follow diagrams andpictures
  • Must be adept at using machines, air tools, hoists and special processes
  • Perform the same task repeatedly
  • Assemble engine and electrical parts with bolts, clips, screws, solder, cement, or other fasteners by hand or by using portable power tools
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Must be able to conduct assembly in the pre-paint and post-paint sections of the assembly line, as well as staging for pre-assembly, painting, post-paint and shipping.
  • Inspectingfully assembled and/or partially assembled engines, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Install engines onto, and monitor engine functions on, hot test stands
Required Qualifications:

  • Day Shift, "4-10s" Monday thru Thursday, 6:30am - 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch and two paid breaks.
  • Compensation: Pay rates start at $20/hour based on experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
