Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Marine Electrician to join our team. The Marine Electrician Lead will be responsible for leading projects related to upgrading and developing electrical systems for marine vessels and floating structures, such as cargo ships, fishing vessels, barges, and tugs. The role includes serving as the Electrician of Record (EoR), overseeing projects from RFQ to final installation, testing, and compliance, ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications, often within tight deadlines.

Must Have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and operating electrical equipment aboard commercial ships (e.g., Tugboats, Container Ships, Catcher-Processors, Barges)
  • Shipyard experience, industry-standard safety protocols, and OSHA regulations
  • Lock-out, Tag-out procedures
  • Intermediate to advanced electrical theory knowledge
  • Ability to use a Multimeter
  • Mathematical skills: multiplication, division, order of operations, fractions
  • Familiarity with Metric and Standard measuring systems and conversion skills
  • Ability to interpret schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Experience with 480VAC 3-Phase distribution systems, grounded and ungrounded
  • Basic load calculations and Ohm's Law understanding
  • Circuit breaker and cable sizing
  • Knowledge of electric motors and motor circuits
  • Design, build, install, and troubleshoot motor controllers
  • Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Soft Starters
