Job summary

Cooper Consolidated, LLC is seeking a qualified dispatcher to schedule, secure equipment, and dispatch inland tug boats moving barges along the lower Mississippi River. You will establish priorities, maintain logs, and communicate with ship crews and internal staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience; preferred dispatch experience in marine/logistics.

Qualifications

• Education Required – Associate’s Degree in general studies or equivalent experience and training.
• Experience Required – None.
• Preferred – Prior dispatch experience and/or related industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Actual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs location(s) supported.
• Ensure daily dispatch logs are kept current and all information is up-to-date; information utilized with customer billing.
• Evaluate situations and take action independently to solve problems.
• Work closely with internal operations to develop logistics solutions for customers.
• Work to keep fleet security a priority.
• Coordinate dock breakdowns and set up with shipyard.
• Coordinate efficient movement of barges in and out of fleets.
• Coordinate logistics of tow building with the arrival of line boats.
• Coordinate boat tows to and from destinations for maximum efficiency.
• Coordinate barge schedules with shipyards and customers.
• Assist management with fleet operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures as it relates to operational difficulties.
• Other duties as assigned.
