Job summary

Cooper Consolidated, LLC is seeking a dispatcher to schedule, secure equipment, and dispatch inland tug boats moving barges within a defined region. You will maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with vessel personnel to ensure safe, efficient operations. Travel within the assigned region is required.

A Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Required – Associate’s Degree in general studies or equivalent experience and training.
• Preferred – Prior dispatch experience and/or related industry experience.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily dispatch logs are kept current and information is up-to-date; information utilized with customer billing.
• Evaluate situations and take action independently to solve problems.
• Work closely with internal operations to develop logistics solutions for customers.
• Work to keep fleet security a priority.
• Coordinate dock breakdowns and set up with shipyards.
• Coordinate efficient movement of barges in and out of fleets.
• Coordinate logistics of tow building with the arrival of line boats.
• Coordinate boat tows to and from destinations for maximum efficiency.
• Coordinate barge schedules with shipyards and customers.
• Assist management with fleet operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures as it relates to operational difficulties.
• Other duties as assigned.
