Job summary

Fincantieri Marine Systems North America in Chesapeake, VA seeks a skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic for a 1st shift role (7:30 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday). You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and install marine diesel engines and related systems to ensure reliable operation on commercial and defense vessels.

Domestic and international travel may be required. Candidates should have a journeyman/technical or associate degree in diesel mechanics and at least 3 years of diesel engine

Qualifications

• Must have diesel engine expertise including overhauls and components.
• Proficient with hand/power tools and measurement/diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
• Commitment to safety and ISO/OSHA policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of marine diesel engines and related systems.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble engines and components.
• Perform engine timing, valve adjustments, injector replacement, and other mechanical repairs.
• Identify wear or damage and determine repair or replacement needs.
• Maintain accurate records of measurements and work performed.
• Other duties and overtime as assigned.
