Job summary

Saronic Technologies Inc. in New Orleans seeks a seasoned Marine Design Manager to lead a team of marine designers and drafters on autonomous surface vessel development.

You will set technical standards and oversee drawings, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality documentation. You will collaborate with naval architects, marine and structural engineers, and production to drive vessel design, manage handoffs, and mentor staff while delivering robust CAD work and continuous process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical certification in Naval Architecture, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (Associate degree considered with significant experience)
• 10+ years of CAD drafting and design experience in the marine industry
• 3+ years of experience managing or leading a team of marine designers
• Strong expertise across vessel design areas: general, mechanical, electrical, structural, and piping
• Deep knowledge of maritime regulatory requirements, construction tolerances, and vessel construction processes
• Experience managing drawing submittals to classification societies such as ABS, DNV, and LR
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software including NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, and Rhino
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee new vessel construction documentation, including ship construction drawings and as-built records
• Mentor, develop, and grow team members in CAD modeling and ship design best practices
• Ensure marine regulatory compliance across all design documentation
• Coordinate with production and build engineering teams to manage design-to-build handoffs and resolve technical issues
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tooling, and team workflows

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Marine Design Manager to lead our team of marine designers and drafters in support of autonomous surface vessel development.
