Job summary

Gage Marine in Wisconsin seeks a Marine Crane Operator & Crew Lead to safely operate articulating boom cranes aboard barges and to lead pier crews during marine construction and offseason projects.

The role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and a commitment to safe operating practices. Responsibilities include inspections, load and weather checks, and coordinating rigging teams.

Qualifications

• Current certification to operate an articulating boom crane.
• Experience operating cranes in marine/offshore environments.
• Experience leading crane or deck crews.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening and drug testing.
• Ability to work extended shifts including weekends.
• Able to lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors in variable weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate articulating boom cranes aboard barges and lead marine work sites.
• Lead and coordinate crew members, riggers, and other personnel.
• Conduct pre-use crane, rigging, and safety inspections; report defects.
• Verify load weights, rigging configurations, crane capacity, weather, and vessel stability.
• Participate in maintenance talks, safety meetings, and incident reporting.
• Install and remove seasonal piers, lifts and lake items.
