Job summary

Weeks Marine, Inc. in Houma, LA seeks an experienced crane mechanic to keep cranes, winches and hydraulic systems running on marine vessels used in dredging projects along the East and Gulf coasts. Rotation is 19 days on / 9 days off with travel to project sites.

You will read diagrams and manuals, diagnose problems, perform maintenance in yard and on vessels, and support crews with technical guidance and cost-efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• 3-year minimum crane mechanic experience
• Electrical experience desired
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site
• Travel to field locations required; transportation paid
• Ability to read hydraulic diagrams, schematics, and manuals
• Proficient in safe installation of rotating mechanical equipment
• Excellent communication with contractors and teams

Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair and reassemble construction equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and implement remedies
• Perform mechanical repairs on derrick barges and marine vessels
• Install, maintain and repair cranes, winches, gearboxes, clutches and pumps
• Read diagrams and manuals for repair information
• Set up equipment and assist users; provide technical support
• Ensure tasks are completed timely and cost-efficiently
• Maintain clean, safe and efficient work areas
