Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 3–5 years marine painting/sandblasting experience
• Knowledge of ship terminology and OSHA regulations
• Knowledge of marine coating applications and surface preparation
• Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagram form
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
• Color differentiation and attention to color matching

Responsibilities

• Operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply coatings to fabricated steel items
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, stripping, and removing coatings and corrosion
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and safe work practices
• Follow safety, environmental, and contract specifications
• May supervise and train subordinates as needed
