Main Industries seeks a QA Coatings Inspector to support its marine and industrial preservation projects in Charleston, SC. The role focuses on inspecting surface preparation and protective coatings, documenting quality results, and ensuring adherence to project specs and industry standards.

You will collaborate with production teams, supervisors, and customer representatives to verify work meets requirements, with an emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of coatings inspection or related QA experience.
• Current AMPP/NACE CIP Level 1+ certification or SSPC NBPI.
• Knowledge of marine/industrial surface prep and coating processes.
• Ability to read specifications and data sheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication; good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance inspections of marine and industrial surface preparation and protective coating activities.
• Inspect abrasive blasting, mechanical surface preparation, waterjetting, and other surface prep activities.
• Verify surface cleanliness, surface profile, environmental conditions, coating application, and other quality requirements.
• Inspect primers, intermediate coats, finish coats, nonskid systems, and other protective coating applications.
• Use inspection instruments and gauges to verify environmental conditions, surface profile, wet/dry film thickness, and other measurements.
• Review project specifications, work packages, coating manufacturer data sheets, and quality requirements.
• Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records and reports.
