Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Charleston, SC is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under direction of a CIP Level 2/3 inspector. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, document each step on tanks and structures, and maintain logs with photos to support the coating program.

Requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ years in coatings inspection.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Able to work around blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life per datasheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
