Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a CAD Hardware Design Drafter to turn concepts into production-ready drawings for hull structures, enclosures, mounting systems, propulsion components, and internal assemblies. You will create 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks while adding GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of mechanical drafting experience in a production, prototyping, or R&D environment.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software.
• Deep understanding of mechanical tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, sheet metal, composites).
• Strong organizational and file management skills.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for marine, aerospace, or defense applications.
• Familiarity with design for harsh environments (e.g., saltwater exposure, shock/vibration).
• Exposure to MIL-SPECs or DoD engineering standards.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, or field integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
• Create fabrication-ready technical drawings, including GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Support design of watertight enclosures, mechanical brackets, payload mounts, and system integration layouts.
• Work with engineering to iterate designs based on field test feedback and functional requirements.
• Maintain CAD databases, drawing revisions, part libraries, and assembly documentation.
• Collaborate with external fabricators and machinists to ensure manufacturability of components.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to documentation packages for prototyping and production.
• Ensure compliance with mechanical standards, material compatibility, and DoD program requirements.
