Job summary

Morgan Stanley in New Jersey is seeking a Margin Operations professional to manage margin policy exceptions and daily margin processes while supporting trading activity.

You will handle margin calls, review asset transfers, and apply REG-T and related rules under high-pressure market conditions, coordinating with client service and risk teams. This hybrid role requires three days in the office per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance field.
• Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Willingness to learn new brokerage operations skills.
• Detail-oriented with proactive risk identification.
• 2+ years in broker-dealer space, preferably Margin Operations or Equity/Options Trading.
• Strong knowledge of margin balances across multiple products (REG-T, REG-U, Options).
• Regulatory knowledge: FINRA 4210, Reg T, Reg U, Portfolio Margin, PD trading.
• Knowledge of trading strategies and current markets.
• Proficiency in Excel and tools like Tableau, Bloomberg.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, review, and manage exceptions to the firm’s current margin policy.
• Perform daily margin processes: managing margin calls and monitoring accounts for accuracy and collateral.
• Review asset transfers (funds and securities).
• Strong understanding of REG-T Margin guidelines, Day-Trade rules and complex option strategies.
• Take-action on at-risk accounts for adherence to policy, market conditions, or customer behavior.
• Support customer service in identifying and resolving client margin issues via email, phone, or chat.
• Assess risk and apply closing transactions in high-pressure market conditions.
• Escalate risk-related issues to leaders across lines of business.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives to formulate policy and improve risk systems.
• Provide regular reporting to direct management.
• Contribute ideas to improve operational processes.
