Welocalize is seeking a Maps Quality Tester with GIS/maps background. This full-time, 12-month contract role is remote with a base in Austin, TX. The candidate will work closely with the development team to ensure the highest quality of maps and navigation products released globally.

The ideal tester is a quick study, clear communicator, and capable of distilling complex issues into actionable reports. A passion for quality and experience with consumer mapping tools is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred (Geography/Cartography or related field).
• Experience with maps and web-based mapping products.
• Proficient in English, written and spoken.
• Able to explain technical details in reports.
• Organised and able to work remotely without direct supervision.

Welocalize is seeking a Maps Quality Tester with a background in GIS or previous maps experience. In this exciting role, you will be working at a leading consumer technology company as a contributor to the finished products released in target markets across the globe.

The ideal candidate is a brilliant problem solver, quick study, self-starter, and excellent communicator with a passion for shipping quality products. The ability to think on your feet and to deliver results in a fast-paced environment is a must. If you're an avid cyclist who tracks your performance across different routes, that is considered relevant experience and a strong plus!

Our testers will work closely with the development team to ensure the client organization ships the highest quality application. The candidate should possess the ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters into clean, understandable reports. The candidate must also be an effective diplomat with strong communication and organizational skills, who is willing to prove him or herself within a company of talented individuals.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficient in using iOS and MacOS (desirable)
• Working knowledge of maps and web-based mapping products
• Good written and spoken English
• Experience working with data and spreadsheets
• Familiarity with using mobile devices for driving navigation e.g. Apple Maps, Google Maps
• Creative thinker and able to understand the product from the user's perspective
• Organised and self-sufficient, able to work remotely without direct supervision
• Ability to explain technical details in clear and concise reports
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred (Geography, Cartography, or related field preferred)
• Austin-based (but you'll be working from home in Austin)
