TITLE:
Journeyman Electrician
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate, with post-secondary or formal apprenticeship training
- Alaska certificate of Fitness for Electrician or ability to acquire certificate within one (1) yearof hiring.
- Demonstratedaptitude or competence for assignedresponsibilities.
- Valid Alaska driver's license.
- SuchalternativestotheabovequalificationsastheBoardmayfindappropriateandacceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilitiesincludebutarenotlimitedtothefollowing:
- Assumesprimaryresponsibilityforthesafeconditionoftheelectricalsystemsinthefacilitiesownedoroperatedbythe District.
- This includes lighting fixtures,wiring, electricalapparatus,and theelectricalparts of heating,ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
- Determines which repair jobs may be performed by electricians, custodians, and maintenance workers on the staff and which must be performed by outside contracts and advises the Director of Property Services accordingly.
- SupervisesallelectricalrepairworkperformedbyDistrictpersonnel.
- Supervisesandexecutespreventativemaintenanceworkordersonelectricalequipment.
- Instructscustodiansandmaintenanceworkersonthecorrectproceduresinhandlingelectricalequipment,andinthesafe use of tools in electrical repair work.
- Workswith theDirector ofProperty Services inestimating costof electricalrepair projects intermsoflaborand materials.
- Alsosketches outand does materialtakeoffs on small electrical remodeling projects.
- Supervises the installation and operation of all lighting and electrical sound equipment in auditorium and gymnasium for all special theatrical, athletic, and other performance events.
- Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of District-owned electrical equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Works with the fire alarm systemscontractor in theinspection and repair of District fire detection andalarm systems onan as-needed basis.
- SubmitspreventativemaintenancerecommendationsforelectricalequipmentintheDistrict.
- PerformsotherdutiesasassignedbytheDirectorofPropertyServices.
LENGTH OF POSITION:
7.5 hours per day, 261 days per year
SALARY:
Range 23 Step 1, $42.61 per hour or DOE
EVALUATION:
PerformanceofthisjobwillbeevaluatedinaccordancewithprovisionsoftheBoardPolicy.
