Responsibilities

• Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of the electrical systems in facilities.
• Oversees lighting, wiring, electrical apparatus, and electrical parts of HVAC equipment.
• Determines which repairs can be performed in-house and advises accordingly.
• Supervises electrical repair work performed by District personnel.
• Instructs custodians and maintenance workers in safe electrical procedures.
• Estimates cost of electrical repair projects in labor and materials.
• Sketches and does material takeoffs on small remodeling projects.
• Supervises installation and operation of lighting and electrical sound equipment for events.
• Recommends supplies and maintains inventory of electrical equipment and supplies.
• Coordinates with fire alarm contractor for inspection and repair as needed.
• Submits preventive maintenance recommendations for electrical equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Property Services.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsibilitiesincludebutarenotlimitedtothefollowing:
• Assumesprimaryresponsibilityforthesafeconditionoftheelectricalsystemsinthefacilitiesownedoroperatedbythe District.
• This includes lighting fixtures,wiring, electricalapparatus,and theelectricalparts of heating,ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
• Determines which repair jobs may be performed by electricians, custodians, and maintenance workers on the staff and which must be performed by outside contracts and advises the Director of Property Services accordingly.
• SupervisesallelectricalrepairworkperformedbyDistrictpersonnel.
• Supervisesandexecutespreventativemaintenanceworkordersonelectricalequipment.
• Instructscustodiansandmaintenanceworkersonthecorrectproceduresinhandlingelectricalequipment,andinthesafe use of tools in electrical repair work.
• Workswith theDirector ofProperty Services inestimating costof electricalrepair projects intermsoflaborand materials.
• Alsosketches outand does materialtakeoffs on small electrical remodeling projects.
• Supervises the installation and operation of all lighting and electrical sound equipment in auditorium and gymnasium for all special theatrical, athletic, and other performance events.
• Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of District-owned electrical equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Works with the fire alarm systemscontractor in theinspection and repair of District fire detection andalarm systems onan as-needed basis.
• SubmitspreventativemaintenancerecommendationsforelectricalequipmentintheDistrict.
• PerformsotherdutiesasassignedbytheDirectorofPropertyServices.

LENGTH OF POSITION:

7.5 hours per day, 261 days per year

SALARY:

Range 23 Step 1, $42.61 per hour or DOE

EVALUATION:

PerformanceofthisjobwillbeevaluatedinaccordancewithprovisionsoftheBoardPolicy.
