In this role, you will manage and develop the site’s team of engineer professionals and direct technical support and continuous improvements that keeps our cyanide (CN)-based production processes safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant. You will set the process engineering agenda for the site—owning process technology, driving continuous-improvement and yield initiatives, and serving as the senior technical authority for troubleshooting complex process issues. Partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Safety, and EHS leadership, you will translate business and production goals into the appropriate technology strategy while building the capability and performance of the technical team. This position reports to the Plant Manager at our Memphis, TN location.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the site’s Manufacturing Technical Team—setting priorities, managing performance, and building technical capability across the group.
  • Own process technology for the site’s chemical manufacturing units, ensuring processes are designed and operated to meet safety, quality, environmental, throughput, and cost objectives.
  • Direct process optimization and continuous-improvement initiatives—including yield, energy, reliability, and debottlenecking projects—using data analysis and structured problem-solving.
  • Provide senior technical leadership for troubleshooting complex process upsets and quality deviations, driving root-cause analysis and durable corrective actions.
  • Guide capital and process-change projects from scoping and design through commissioning and start-up, ensuring sound engineering, budget discipline, and on‑time delivery.
  • Serve as a process safety leader—championing Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements, leading or sponsoring process hazard analyses (PHAs), and enforcing management‑of‑change (MOC) rigor.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including process descriptions, operating limits, P&IDs, and design bases, and ensure engineering standards (RAGAGEP) are applied.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, and Supply Chain leadership to align engineering support with production plans and business objectives.
  • Manage the Manufacturing Technical budget and prioritize technical resources across competing business needs.
To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline

  • Working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and experience with high-hazard / highly hazardous chemical processes
  • Demonstrated experience leading process hazard analyses (PHA) and management‑of‑change (MOC)
  • Strong command of process engineering fundamentals—mass and energy balances, unit operations, process control, and equipment design
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and decision‑making skills, with the ability to influence across functions
The following is preferred for this role:
