Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Instructor will lead SMTEC manufacturing classes in the Lincoln High School lab, focusing on safety, equipment use, and hands-on learning to prepare students for careers as employees or business owners.

Responsibilities include instruction, record-keeping, and alignment with Perkins/CTE standards, while building industry partnerships to support student pathways in Machine Tool Technology.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching certificate with appropriate Occupational Education Endorsement or 4,000 hours of recent work experience in the last 10 years and willingness to obtain annual authorization.
• Knowledge of all automated machinery and hand tools used in manufacturing.
• Willing to coordinate projects with other CTE programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and assessments to secondary students in all phases of Machine Tool Technology.
• Maintains records of student attendance and progress in theory and practice of the trade.
• Prepare students for industry certification assessments.
• Monitor student safety and behavior and manage various skill levels within each class period.
• Maintain and control equipment and supply inventories.
• Maintain program records and prepare reports for SMTEC office and participating school districts.
• Build and cultivate relationships with industry partners.
• Maintain Advisory Group and meet a minimum of two times a year.
• Instruct and comply with State of MI Perkins Course Competencies.
• Maintain annual State of MI CTE program requirements.
