Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching certificate with appropriate Occupational Education Endorsement or 4,000 hours of recent work experience in the last 10 years and willingness to obtain annual authorization.
  • Knowledge of all automated machinery and hand tools used in manufacturing.
  • Willing to coordinate projects with other CTE programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and assessments to secondary students in all phases of Machine Tool Technology.
  • Maintains records of student attendance and progress in theory and practice of the trade.
  • Prepare students for industry certification assessments.
  • Monitor student safety and behavior and manage various skill levels within each class period.
  • Maintain and control equipment and supply inventories.
  • Maintain program records and prepare reports for SMTEC office and participating school districts.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with industry partners.
  • Maintain Advisory Group and meet a minimum of two times a year.
  • Instruct and comply with State of MI Perkins Course Competencies.
  • Maintain annual State of MI CTE program requirements.

Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Manufacturing Technology Instructor will provide instruction for the Southwest Macomb Technical Education Consortium (SMTEC) manufacturing classes held in the manufacturing lab in the Career and Technology (CTE) building located at Lincoln High School. The class provides exploratory experiences in manufacturing. The class emphasizes safety, procedures, equipment and tool use while preparing students to become successful employees or business owners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching certificate with appropriate Occupational l Education Teaching Endorsement to teach state approved Machine Tool Technology program (CIP 48.0501) or recent and relevant work experience (4,000 hours) in the last 10 years and be willing to obtain annual authorization to teach a state approved Machine Tool Technology program.
  • Knowledge of all automated machinery and hand tools used in manufacturing
  • Willing to coordinate projects with other CTE programs.
