Job summary

Applied Energy Systems, Inc is a premier gas delivery equipment and installation service provider. The Laser Welder supports the Apex Precision Division by assembling and joining small to microscopic instruments using a laser welding machine.

You will set up the laser, adjust machine settings, and feed materials to perform automated welding processes. The role requires reading drawings, maintaining quality and precision, and interfacing with team members.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read project drawings and blueprints.
• Quality/detail oriented with the ability to achieve repeatable results.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination with the ability to work with very small instruments and components.
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Awareness for precision, repeatability, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate automatic laser welding equipment.
• Follow ISO 13485 procedures and safety requirements.
• Follow project documentation to yield conforming products.
• Position and clamp components for welding preparation.
• Clean and perform after-process weld finishing.
• Perform analytical testing including visual inspection, tensile testing and microscopic inspection.
• Safely operate common manufacturing tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with team members for component and equipment resources.

Position Overview:

The Laser Welder supports our Apex Precision Division by assembling and joining small to microscopic instruments, devices, and components using a laser welding machine. The operator is required to set up the laser to start a production cycle, as well as control and adjust the machine settings as needed throughout the automated process. Using written procedures, the operator will feed raw materials or parts into the machine to perform automatic welding processes. In addition to operating the machine, the candidate must also prepare the laser for daily use by adjusting programs, checking for common safety or maintenance issues, and monitoring daily output and quality.

Responsibilities Include:

• Operate automatic laser welding equipment
• Follow ISO 13485 procedures, as well as company safety and process requirements
• Follow project documentation to yield product that conforms to workmanship and established production standards
• Position and clamp together components of fabricated product for welding preparation
• Clean and perform after process weld finishing services
• Perform analytical testing including visual inspection, tensile testing and microscopic inspection
• Safely operate common manufacturing tools and equipment
• Effectively interface with team members for component and equipment resources

Essential Skills:

• Ability to read project drawings and blueprints, specifications, work orders, and procedures
• Quality/detail oriented with the ability to achieve repeatable results
• Excellent hand-eye coordination with the ability to work with and handle very small instruments and components
• Strong appreciation for time management, timeliness, priorities, and deadlines
• Awareness for precision, repeatability, and quality.

Requirements:

• Must have good vision and dexterity
• Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and sit throughout the day for extended periods of time
• High School degree preferred
• 1-2 years' experience in a production, assembly, or manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with the operation of common manufacturing tools and equipment
• Previous laser welding and/or metallurgy experience is a plus
