Job summary

Applied Materials in Santa Clara, CA seeks a Manufacturing Technician to build, test, and repair semiconductor equipment in a cleanroom. You will perform electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance, ensuring parts meet quality standards and documentation is complete.

Expect to work with engineers to improve fixtures and processes, operate test equipment, and participate in a safety-focused, high-performance production team with opportunities for growth and skill development.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher in engineering or science; bachelor's preferred.
• Experience with vacuum processes and chemical cleaning of semiconductor components is a plus.
• 4–7 years in semiconductor/display or related industry.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and process critical chamber components in a cleanroom environment
• Use optical and electric metrology tools to measure parts and sub-assemblies
• Receive parts and perform cosmetic and optical inspections to ensure parts are free of defects
• Work closely with engineers to conduct root cause analysis and development corrective actions of product quality excursions
• Work closely with engineering on developing and proposing new fixtures, processes, and procedures to improve production quality and efficiency
• Use work orders to repair and/or test equipment of various kinds
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of vacuum and optical systems
• Participate in a wide variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting and repairs
• Use test fixtures, electronic and optical measurement equipment to test assemblies, subassemblies, and components
• Complete required job documentation about progress; perform computer programming, repair, or software installs, as needed
• Provide training and support to lower-level technicians; assist supervisor in aligning resources for daily production needs
• Serve as a Quality Lead for processes, as needed; assist with quality issues and provide feedback to improve manufacturing processes
