Job summary

Narda-MITEQ is seeking a process technician to support substrates and element fabrication in the thin and thick film labs. You will operate and maintain specialized deposition equipment, prepare substrates, and ensure process quality and safety across shifts.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team to meet daily production targets. A strong safety mindset and familiarity with PPE are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of related experience, or 2 years post-secondary/Associate degree with 0–2 years related experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T concepts, and tolerances.
  • Familiar with laboratory safety procedures and PPE use.
  • Preferred knowledge of micro/macro photo fabrication of elements.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team while problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain thin and dry film equipment.
  • Prepare substrates for thin and dry film deposition by cleaning, etching, and other surface prep methods.
  • Perform thermal trim, dicing, element deposition/processing, and substrate etching.
  • Monitor etched copper tolerances.
  • Adjust and test resistor rods; prepare for downstream processing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment; follow safety protocols.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reorder as necessary.
  • Coordinate with team lead on daily production plans, results, and issues.
  • Inspect and pack thin and dry film components.
  • Conduct electrical compliance testing of manufactured substrate components.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine, repetitive tasks in the Process Department (thin & thick film labs) to manufacture substrates and elements. The selected candidate must have the ability to perform the essential duties & responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but is not limited to the duties described below.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate and maintain thin & dry film equipment.
  • Prepare substrates for thin & dry film deposition by cleaning, etching, and other surface preparation methods.
  • Thermal trim; dicing; element deposition/processing; substrate etching.
  • Etched copper monitoring tolerances.
  • Resistor rod adjusting/trimming/testing and preparation for downstream processing.
  • Ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, and well-maintained, following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and materials, ordering replacements as necessary.
  • Assists in meeting daily production requirement throughout process area. Communicate effectively with team lead to discuss production plans, results, and any issues encountered.
  • Inspection/packing of thin and dry film components.
  • Electrical compliance testing of manufactured substrate components.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Mechanically inclined including ability to use microscope and measuring tools such as calipers, multimeter.
  • Familiar with laboratory control procedures, chemical safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, geometric dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Preferred knowledge of micro or macro photo fabrication of elements.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
