Job summary

Husky Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our Milton, Vermont facility. You will set up tooling, read mechanical drawings, and translate instructions into machine operations to produce precise parts.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to train junior machinists, with a focus on safety and quality. You will also perform root-cause analyses on defects, participate in process improvement projects, and collaborate across shifts to maintain continuous

Qualifications

• High school diploma or high school equivalency required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in CNC machining preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Understanding of machine controllers (PLC’s and CNC’s).

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain tooling in peak condition.
• Understand specifications by reading mechanical drawings.
• Translate instructions into computer commands for machines.
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines.
• Supervise machine execution and adjust to achieve desired results.
• Inspect and measure finished products against requirements.
• Maintain equipment via preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Document and communicate actions across shifts.
• Make subjective quality decisions on part cosmetics.
• Provide information for maintenance during troubleshooting.
• Lead and train entry to intermediate machinists.
• Investigate non-conformances and root causes.
• Support process manufacturing capability studies and improvements.
• Represent operations in manufacturing reviews.
• Audit manufacturing processes.
• Regrind or alter tooling for custom features.
• Program and edit parts and macros for unattended equipment.
• Develop tool specs and procurement for various dimensions.

Salary Range: $27 - $31 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain tooling in peak condition
• Understand specifications and the desired result by reading mechanical drawings, etc.
• Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
• Supervise the machine while it executes the program and make any necessary adjustments to produce the desired result
• Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completely properly
• Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repair
• Maintains continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating any actions taken or needed
• Make subjective quality decisions regarding part cosmetics/aesthetics
• Provide key information on machining operation for maintenance during troubleshooting
• Provide technical leadership and training to entry and intermediate machinists
• Investigate and perform root cause analysis on non-conformance and scrap events. Communicate as required with team leader, quality analyst and programming support on findings and correct dispositioning
• Support process manufacturing capability studies and improvement projects
• Be the primary point of contact for operations representation in manufacturing reviews
• Conduct audits of manufacturing processes
• Regrind or alter standard tooling to meet custom feature requirements
• Program and edit parts, write macro sub-routines as necessary to facilitate operation of unattended equipment
• Develop tool specification and procure for machining various dimensional characteristics
• Perform Machine set up and first piece program/part validation for any ‘one-off’ prototype job that is new to area
