Title: Manufacturing Technician

Reports To: Engineering Manager (Kansas City)

General Scope of Position

Sefar’s Manufacturing Technician plays a vital role in supporting day-to-day operations across all areas of manufacturing at our Kansas City facility. This is a hands-on, dynamic role that requires adaptability, problem-solving, and a continuous improvement mindset.

This position involves working directly with various types of manufacturing equipment, supporting both routine production needs and improvement initiatives. You will assist in equipment setups, repairs, troubleshooting, and process optimization projects—helping to ensure operational efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety. You will also contribute to the development of documentation, training materials, and best practices that support our broader manufacturing goals.

Position Requirements

A minimum of a two-year degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Technology—or a related technical field—is required. Candidates should have 1 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a demonstrated ability to work across a range of equipment and processes.

Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, a hands-on approach, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies and processes. Flexibility is essential, as the role involves both structured tasks and unique, one-time projects that require critical thinking and initiative.

Position Responsibilities

  • Production Support & Equipment Setup
    • Prepare and set up equipment for daily production, ensuring proper function and safe operation across sewing, welding, cutting, stamping, and auxiliary processes.
    • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues in real time, minimizing downtime and escalating when needed.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Repair
    • Perform repairs and assist with scheduled maintenance tasks on machinery, tools, and systems.
    • Communicate equipment status and support larger repair efforts in coordination with engineering or maintenance personnel.
  • Process Improvement & Technical Projects
    • Support and lead projects to improve process stability, reduce costs, or enhance quality.
    • Conduct basic trials or experiments to determine optimal machine settings or configurations.
    • Collect and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation & Standardization
    • Assist with developing and updating technical documents including Work Instructions, equipment SOPs, safety procedures, and internal guides.
    • Help document lessons learned, troubleshooting guides, and new process validations for broader team use.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align on equipment needs, process changes, and improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective actions following equipment or process-related non-conformances.
  • Training & Operational Knowledge Sharing
    • Train operators or other technicians on equipment use, basic troubleshooting, and process setup as needed.
    • Serve as a technical resource on shop floor during new equipment introduction or process rollouts.
