Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Technician to operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC equipment in a production environment. You will monitor machine performance, inspect parts, read blueprints, and maintain quality and safety standards.

Required are a high school diploma and at least three years of manufacturing experience, with strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork. Competitive pay and benefits are offered with two shifts available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience operating or troubleshooting CNC machinery required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Basic shop mathematics, including fractions and conversions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while meeting quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor CNC machinery for milling, punching, drilling, broaching, and reaming.
  • Troubleshoot machine performance issues and adjust settings as needed to maintain production.
  • Identify defects, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to verify conformance to drawings and specs.
  • Read blueprints and manufacturing documentation to guide production.
  • Use calipers, micrometers and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Set up machines for production runs, including tooling changes.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records; follow safety procedures.

Manufacturing Technician
Location: 225 Talbot Blvd, Chestertown, MD 21620
Pay Range: $25 - $30 per hour
Work Hours: 2 Shifts available

  • 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday

The Dixon Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Chestertown, MD! The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing experience and a strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC equipment in a production environment. In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. You will be responsible for monitoring machine performance, identifying and resolving machining issues, inspecting finished products, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate and monitor computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery used to mill, punch, drill, broach, and ream metal and plastic components.
  • Troubleshoot machine performance issues and make adjustments to machine settings, tooling, or programs as needed to maintain production requirements.
  • Identify machining defects, investigate root causes, and take corrective action to ensure product quality and process efficiency.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured parts to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, work orders, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools, to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Make sound decisions regarding quality, tolerances, machine operation, and production sequencing.
  • Prepare and set up machines for production runs, including tooling changes and machine adjustments.
  • Monitor production output to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to continuously improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience operating or troubleshooting CNC machinery required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Basic shop mathematics skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, and measurement conversions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
