Job summary

Tosoh Quartz is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to assist in the production of quartz components at our Portland, Oregon facility. You will operate and maintain equipment, follow process documents, and ensure safety protocols are followed in a chemical-intensive environment.

Responsibilities

• Cut, inspect and process quartz components according to procedures.
• Operate and maintain equipment; detect and correct minor malfunctions.
• Follow process documents, work orders, drawings and safety rules.
• Maintain a safe, organized work area and wear PPE as required.
• Assist in chemical-handling steps within safety protocols.
• Support quality checks and document results.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will assist in the manufacture of quartz components using a variety of tools and equipment.

Shift Schedule: 4:00 am – 12:30 pm

What you’ll do at Tosoh Quartz.

• Cut glass to the required lengths, cut in bevels, slots or other features, etch off layers to perfect glass and rinse item in acid bath between all steps.
• Produce and inspect in process products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
• Work in accordance with process procedures, work order instructions, drawings, and other production documents.
• Perform detail work, which may include waxing, dewaxing, chamfering, acid wash or other cleaning, cosmetic inspection of parts and other similar functions.
• Maintain equipment. Detect and correct minor machine malfunctions and perform daily and monthly machine maintenance as directed.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.
• Wear and use all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) properly and in accordance with manufacturer and OSHA regulations.

Important note: This position works with chemicals (including acid) for up to 50% of the shift. All employees must strictly follow all safety protocols and wear required safety gear at when working with chemicals.

Who you are.

Minimum requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to accurately follow instructions.
• Able to lift and extend with arms outstretched, up to 60 lbs. independently. Or up to 120 lbs. with assistance.
• Aptitude for learning; blueprints, machine mathematics and precision measurement equipment.
• Able to wear all required, Company-provided safety gear during your shift. This includes goggles, aprons, boots, acid pants (optional), 2 sets of gloves, and a half mask or PAPR respirator.
