Job summary

Toyota Boshoku America in Tennessee seeks a manufacturing team lead to operate and maintain equipment, contributing to safety, quality, efficiency and cost targets. You will work with a team to follow standardized processes, eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement in a high‑volume production setting.

The role requires leadership capabilities, ability to train others, and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred; 1–2 years in a manufacturing environment is an asset; HS diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain teamwork, safety, training and discipline in a manufacturing environment.
• Follow standardized work procedures and process sequences.
• Collaborate with team to identify waste and implement standard improvements.
• Directly responsible for performance of assigned work area.
• Lead team activities and ensure records and reports are completed.

Operate and maintain equipment in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for meeting plant targets for safety, quality, efficiency and cost reduction.

Technical

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work in a manufacturing environment emphasizing teamwork, safety, training and discipline.
• Follow standardized work procedures and work sequence for each process.
• Work with team to improve standardized processes/methods, identify waste, methodically eliminate waste and standardize the new process/methods.
• Directly responsible for performance of assigned work area.
• Work in a team environment on safety, quality, productivity and cost improvement projects.
• Complete all working documentation, records and reports as requested.
• Understand all company policies and procedures.
• Be proactive and reactive to resolve abnormalities in the process.
• Use key performance indicators as a method of continuous improvement.
• Lead and direct Team Member activity.
• Expected to be completely versed in his/her area and should be able to adequately instruct anyone to perform these duties.
• Use Kaizen in work areas for the opportunity to make the area or line efficient.

Interpersonal

• Focus on employee relations centered on trust and teamwork.
• Demonstrate a personality that works in cooperation with other team members toward building a sense of company teamwork.
• Work on continually improving skills as outlined during performance review.
• Attend all required training as outlined on training matrix.

Education And/or Experience

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. One to two years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Physical Demands

The employee needs to be capable of working on their feet for long periods of time and occasionally will be required to lift up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

This position is a typical manufacturing environment with a high noise level. Personal protective equipment will be required.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
